Cognos iPad app now included with Enhanced Consumer license and mobile server now included with Cognos 10.1.1.

A couple of weeks ago the Cognos iPad application became available in the Apple Appstore.  A key question is who can legally use it (ie what licenses do you need).

IBM have confirmed that the following is required to use the iPad app:

  • BI Enhanced Consumer or greater (ie BI Advanced Business Author, BI ProfessionalBI Professional or BI Administrator)
  • BI Mobile Consumer (a new license specifically for mobile users only)

So what this means is that the old Mobile Server and Mobile User add-on will not be required in
future and therefore if you have Enhanced Consumer or above, you can upgrade to Cognos 10.1.1, install the Mobile Server and start using the Cognos iPad application immediately.

If you would like more information on Cognos Mobile or integrating iPad use with your existing Cognos 10 BI or if you want to confirm that you are licensed to use it, please get in touch with us.
